If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the 2013 Louisville National Juried Photography Show was home to yet another novel -- and it was a page-turner.
This year's show boasted 103 juried photographs selected from 910 entries from 31 states. Three entries also came from Sweden, Belaruse and Canada.
Denver-based photographer Dan Ballard judged the pieces, narrowing down those selected for the show and then granting more than 20 awards to the photographers, and Ballard was impressed with the body of work.
"It was amazing. There was just some exceptional work. I was impressed with the number of pieces," he said. "Picking the best out of 103 was just so difficult because every image in the entire show was really great."
Kerry Koepping’s “Obachan” was named “Best of Show” for its complex line work, dramatic colors and imposing composition.
Kerry Koepping’s piece “Solitude also received a “Place Award” in the Color Landscape category.
